For those of you who have never been to Canton, here are
some ideas to help make your shopping trip more enjoyable.
How to figure out when First Monday Trade Days takes place:
Put your finger on the first Monday of the month on a calendar. Now go back to the
weekend prior to that Monday. That is the weekend of Canton First Monday Trade Days. The outdoor vendors often begin as early as the Monday prior to the "First Monday" weekend. There is an area of outdoor vendors called "the hill" where you can find all kinds of treasures. The "hill" is located to the west of Pavilion 4500. There are some new pavilions at the top of the "hill". They are Pavilions 6000 and 6500. There is a food court, and some restrooms in this area. Dress for comfort. Closed toe shoes are often more comfortable from the stand point that the vendors say it always rains. In the early spring it is rather cool even on sunny days, so think about layered clothing. In the Summertime it is a good idea to bring sunscreen or a hat, many vendors are outdoors. >> There are scooters for rent for extended shopping days. Start early, there is a lot to see. Plan to stay the entire weekend. But, if you just have one day and want to beat the crowds, make it Sunday. Friday is a good day too. However, you take a chance on the vendors being sold out of their best items if you wait until Sunday. Not much of a hint huh? Oh let's face it, all the days are good at Canton. There are carts for rent for those bulky items that are difficult to carry, or for multiple small items. You may want to bring a cart or a wagon for your purchased items. One shopper wrote in and offered this tip: wear or purchase a fanny pack. RV tips. Please make your plans in advance of your arrival. Both reserved and unreserved spaces are possible but their availability is not guaranteed. Please use the contact information here to reserve a space for your RV. Start your day at the North end and work your way South. If you purchase a large or heavy item, ask the vendor if you can leave it to be picked up on the way back to the car. If you see an item that you did not purchase, but wish that you had, check Canton Trade Days.com to see if they have a listing. If they are listed, email them, voila, you have your item. The busiest time at Canton is after the weather cools off in the fall, and just before Christmas. Visit the vendors in the summertime for good deals and put away those purchases for Christmas. Then visit Canton in the Fall for those Christmas Decorative items and last minute purchases. You'll save money and frustration in the process. The time to make the best deals at Canton is the January Market. Save your money folks, and visit Canton in January, you'll be glad you did.
